Molly and Mollie
What We Do

Molly Mollie Interior Design is a full-service residential design firm. Founded in 2010 by Molly Sullivan Levitt and Mollie Oshman, the Houston-based firm offers a complete spectrum of design services – from material and finish selections to interior design and art placement.

This mother-in-law and daughter-in-law team defy conventional wisdom by not only getting along beautifully, but also working together beautifully to create eye-catching and livable interiors for their clients.

Since Molly Mollie Interior Design launched, the duo have worked on residential projects in some of the Bayou City’s most prestigious communities, including West University and Tanglewood. Most recently, they were tapped to join a team of Houston’s top designers in decorating the 2012 Pink Ribbon House – a showcase home that raises hundreds of thousands of dollars for breast cancer research and patient care.

Who We Are

Molly Sullivan Levitt – who studied journalism at The University of Texas at Austin and has worked in public relations and marketing communications for nearly two decades, says that an interior space – like the field of journalism -- should tell a compelling story – “a story that defines and captures the client’s likes, passions, beliefs and travels.”

Mollie Oshman, who studied design at the University of Houston, and whose homes over the years have been featured in numerous magazines, says, “When you come home – your home should be a haven. I’m passionate about turning people’s personal space into a beautiful sanctuary.”

The two Molly(ie)s say that good design just comes naturally to them – that “it’s simply innate.” Molly Sullivan Levitt, who serves on the Architecture Center Houston steering committee, attributes her “good eye” to growing up as the daughter of a painter (Sherry Sullivan) – where her childhood home environment was nothing short of a constantly evolving and magnificent canvas.

Mollie Oshman credits her refined taste to her past employment with Ralph Lauren, Fox Creek Fabrics and Interiors of Sun Valley, Idaho, and her current post with Houston’s leading retail store for interior designers: Kuhl-Linscomb.

How We Came About

The idea for Molly Mollie Interior Design was conceived over cocktails at the Carlyle Hotel after a full day of retail therapy at some of New York City’s hot spots for interior designers. They included, among others, the 26th Street Flea/Antiques Market – a haven for unique and one-of-a kind pieces, and Moss – a retail space so well executed that the MoMA modeled a makeover of its gallery spaces off the store during a recent renovation effort.

It was at that moment at the Carlyle Hotel’s timeless art deco-inspired Bemelmans Bar that Molly and Mollie set out to turn their full-blown passion for design into a business. It also was a moment when the urgings of others – namely friends and family – to start a design business came to fruition.
